Samsung Galaxy Tab to Go on Sale in November

Updated

Samsung Electronics' (SSHNY) Galaxy Tab, one of the first tablet computers to challenge Apple's (AAPL) iPad, will be available from Nov. 11 in Verizon Wireless stores and cost $599.99.

The price tag makes the Galaxy marginally cheaper than that $629 iPad, The Wall Street Journal reported. The 7-inch Galaxy will be available from Verizon Wireless stores and will run on Verizon's 3G wireless network.

Data plans will begin at $20 a month for one gigabyte of data. AT&T (T) and Sprint Nextel (S) also plan to offer the device.

Apple said last week that it would begin selling iPads at Verizon stores later this month.

It will also give customers the option to bundle the iPad with a "MiFi" wireless device. The device will connect to the carrier's cellular network and create a portable Wi-Fi hotspot that can support as many as five devices.
