Honda Also Plans Safety Recall Over Brake Fluid Leaks

Following Toyota's lead, Japan's No. 2 automaker, Honda Motor (HMC), said today it plans to recall an undetermined number of vehicles because of brake fluid leaks that could lead to reduced braking power.

The recall is related to seals within the vehicles' brake master cylinder that may dry out and leak brake fluid. The same problem prompted Toyota Motor (TM) to recall 1.5 million vehicles worldwide earlier in the day on Thursday.

Honda's auto recall involves 2005 to 2007 model year Acura RL sedans and Honda Odyssey minivans, the Associated Press reported.

Though the automaker wasn't able to immediately reveal how many vehicles are covered by the recall, Honda said it has received no reports of injuries or accidents related to the problem. Toyota also said it had received no such reports related to its recall.

Honda plans to notify the U.S. government of the recall later Thursday, AP said.
