Glass found in frozen peas sold at Walmart, Kroger. The Pictsweet Company is recalling frozen vegetables sold at Walmart and Kroger stores after learning shards of glass could be found inside, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced today.

Green peas products subject to the recall are sold by Walmart stores nationwide and by Kroger stores in the Southeast United States.
They include:
  • Kroger 12-ounce Green Peas (UPC 11110 89736) with production codes 1440BU, 1440BV, 1440BW, and 1600BD.
  • Kroger 12-ounce Peas and Carrots (UPC 11110 89741) with production codes 1960BD and 1960BE.
  • Great Value 12-ounce Steamable Sweet Peas (UPC 78742 08369) with "best by" dates of July 20, 2012, and July 21, 2012.
  • Great Value 12-ounce Steamable Mixed Vegetables (UPC 78742 08026) with "best by" date of July 15, 2012.
The company is also recalling certain okra packages because they may contain milk, which is not listed on the label and could affect those who are allergic. The okra recall affects Pictsweet 32-ounce Clear Bag Breaded Okra with production codes beginning with the following five digits: 1400B, 1550B, 1660B, 1730B, 1870B, 2030B, 2350B and 2500B. The packages were distributed to retailers in the Southeast U.S. Subsequent investigation found the problem was caused by a packaging redesign that included the incorrect ingredient statement.

While no injuries or allergic reactions have been reported, Pictsweet is advising consumers that products from these packages should not be used and can be returned to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Consumers with questions may call the company at 1-800-367-7412, ext. 417, weekdays between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Eastern Time.
