Evenflo Co. Inc. has recalled almost 14,000 Maestro Combination Booster Seats after safety tests showed the car seats could crack during an accident and not sufficiently restrain a child, increasing the risk of injury, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Evenflo said there have been no injuries or reports of the crack developing during an actual car crash. The recalled booster seats have model numbers beginning with 310 and were built between Nov. 24, 2009 and April 9, 2010. The recall involves car seats in Canada too -- those also have model numbers starting with 310 and were made between Dec. 17, 2009 and April 26, 2010.
