Samsung Delays Korea Tablet Debut

Updated

Samsung Electronics (SSNHY) will delay the introduction of its Galaxy Tab tablet computer in South Korea while it equips the device with superior applications for the domestic market.

Samsung cancelled plans to show the new product to local media on Oct. 14, Bloomberg News said. The company has not yet set a new date.

The company hopes the Galaxy Tab will compete with Apple Inc's (AAPL) iPad tablet. Sales of tablet computers could reach 16 million in 2010, and 35 million in 2011.

Samsung is still negotiating the price of the Galaxy Tab with carried SK Telecom Co. The company had planned to start selling the computer this month.
