Massive Fisher-Price 2010 recall effective at stores, state says
The surprise inspections at 11 large retailers all showed the recalled toys and children's products were off the shelves and each store had recall notices posted and the sales registers programmed to not scan the recalled Fisher-Price items.
"We went to stores immediately," Thomas R. Calcagni, the state's Consumer Affairs' acting director, said this week. "Our unannounced inspections show that these retailers have taken actions to protect the public."
Inspectors went to Target stores in South Plainfield and Ocean Township; Walmart in Piscataway and Neptune; Toys-R-Us in Raritan and Watchung; Kmart in North Plainfield and Big Kmart in West Long Branch; Babies R Us/Toys R Us in Eatontown; BJ's Wholesale Club in Oakhurst; and Costco in Ocean Township.
The recalled Fisher-Price products -- more than 11 million in all -- include inflatable balls, high chairs, trikes and part of the Little People toy line.
