Joining Advil's e-mail lists is not required to get the freebie. Advil is giving away 500,000 freebies, so this offer will probably last a day or so.

After signing up, look for a coupon for the freebie in the mail 1-3 weeks later. The coupon is valid for either a 24-count bottle of Advil tablets or a 20-count bottle of Advil LIigui-Gels. The freebie is part of a larger, on-going campaign to persuade people to switch from Tylenol to Advil.

Caveats: no purchase necessary. This offer is limited to the first 500,000 eligible U.S. registrants. One coupon request per household. You must be a U.S. resident age 18 or older to receive the coupon, which is only valid in the 50 United States and the District of Columbia. The coupon expires on Jan. 31, 2011.
