California Man Dies in Fall from Grand Canyon

Employees of the National Park Service have recovered the body of a 42-year-old California man who died in a fall at Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona.

A witness says the man fell while jumping from one outcropping to another between Pipe Creek Vista and the South Rim, The Associated Press reports.

The body was found by a National Park Service helicopter crew, about 500 feet below the rim.

The victim was identified as Andrew Stires of Burbank.

The incident happened late last week, but weather hampered the search.
