Tesla Motors Recalls Roadsters for Fire Danger

Electric carmaker Tesla Motors (TSLA) is recalling 439 cars because over fire concerns.

The company said it is recalling Roadster models 2.0 and 2.5 after an incident where a cable chafed against the edge of a carbon fiber panel in the car, creating smoke and possibly fire behind the right headlamp.

The cable is a 12V low voltage auxiliary cable from a backup system.

"This issue is limited to the 12V low voltage auxiliary cable and does not involve the main battery pack or main power system," the company said in a statement.

Tesla owners will be notified by e-mail and normal mail. The company can service the cars at customers' home or offices.
