The website for 40 Mercer Residences in New York City's Soho neighborhood claims to be "Soho's Ultimate Residence," and apparently Meg Ryan agrees. The movie star is reported to have signed a lease for a three-bedroom, 3 1/2-bathroom unit for $25,000 a month. With over 2,500 square feet of living space in the apartment, the new glass building designed by architect Jean Nouvel and developer Andre Balazs features a 50-foot lap pool, sauna and 24-hour concierge service.

Why is Ryan renting?
