New Disney Bear Debuts at Parks Next Month

When your kid asks for Duffy, best to know in advance that's the name of the latest character at Disney parks.

On Oct. 14, at both Epcot at Walt Disney World in Orlando and Disney California Adventure, Duffy the Disney Bear will make his U.S. debut – he's already a fixture at the Disney parks in Japan where his appearances draw crowds.

Who is Duffy? He's Mickey's very own teddy bear, according to the official Disney blog.

As the back-story goes, Duffy was created by Minnie as a special gift for Mickey as he headed to sea to explore the world.

Mickey and Duffy have since embarked on several voyages together, hence the fact Duffy can be purchased in a variety of costumes including a sailor outfit and lederhosen.

Duffy looks like his owner, with a face shaped like Mickey's. In addition to the bears, the Duffy line includes costumes, key chains, magnets and more. Pre-dressed Duffys even come themed for special occasions like birthdays and graduations, as well as for holidays.

Duffy will be located at a newly created venue inside Epcot across from the Mexico boat ramp and at Paradise Pier at Disney California Adventure.
