United and Continental Shareholders to Vote on Merger

Shareholders of United's parent company UAL Corp (UAUA
). and Continental Airlines (CAL
) will vote today on a merger deal that would create the world's biggest airline. Results of the votes are expected later today, The Associated Press reported.
If shareholders vote in favor, the deal may close in the next two weeks. Then the new company will have to tackle issues including labor deals and combining reservation systems. The new airline would be called United and be based in Chicago. The current Continental CEO would run the new company.
