Steve Jobs is not a Ninja
CEO Steve Jobs is disputing reports that he'll never return to Japan after officials at an airport barred him from taking Ninja throwing stars on board his private plane.
The report, which first appeared in the Japanese magazine SPA! and was picked up by Bloomberg, is being discounted as "pure fiction" by Apple.
"Steve did visit Japan this summer for a vacation in Kyoto, but the incidents described at the airport are pure fiction," Steve Dowling, an Apple spokesman, said in a statement. "Steve had a great time and hopes to visit Japan again soon."
According to Bloomberg, SPA! reported that a security scan at Kansai International Airport, near Osaka, detected the weapons inside Job's carry-on luggage in July as he was returning home to the U.S. from a family vacation in Kyoto.
A spokesman at Kansai airport told Bloomberg a passenger using a private jet was stopped at the end of July for carrying Ninja throwing stars and other handheld blades. The passenger, who was not identified, apparently threw away the blades.
