Toshiba Satellite laptops recalled: Can overheat, cause burns
The CPSC said Toshiba received 129 complaints about the computers overheating and deforming the plastic around the AC adapter. Among those, were two people who reported suffering burns and two instances of property damage.
The models of the Chinese-made laptops included in this recall are Satellite T135, Satellite T135D and Satellite ProT130.
About 41,000 were sold between August 2009 and August 2010 for $600-$800.
Consumers who have the computers are asked to download the latest Toshiba BIOS program from the company's recall information page. The program is designed to detect overheating and then disable the power supply and contact the company to have the problem repaired.
