New Carnival Ship Will Have Pub With Private Label Beer

The 3,690-passenger ship will have the first pub in the Carnival Cruise Lines fleet (though there are many bars). The RedFrog Pub will serve up a collection of Caribbean beers including a private label brew called ThirstyFrog Red.
The idea of a shipboard pub isn't totally original. Competitor Norwegian Cruise Line recently introduced O'Sheehan's, an Irish-style pub that has proven popular on the new Norwegian Epic.
But Carnival says RedFrog takes a new approach with a "laid-back Caribbean vibe" and a design that is "decidedly British West Indies meets Key West, evoking the warmth and friendliness of a local island watering hole."
In addition to beer, the pub will feature other island-inspired drinks and snacks, including Bahamian conch salad and tastings of top-rated rums.
Carnival Magic will also introduce the first-ever ropes course on a cruise ship, with guests invited to traverse nets suspended above Spa Deck 12, as well as a unique outdoor weight-lifting area, Carnival says. The ship's WaterWorks aqua park will include a spiral water slide and splash park with a 500-gallon "dump bucket."
Among other noteworthy features, at dinnertime passengers will find the new option of an "authentic trattoria," Cucina del Capitano ("The Captain's Kitchen"), so-named because all the line's captains are Italian.
The ship debuts May 1 with a series of cruises in Europe, and then launches weeklong Caribbean cruises from Galveston, Texas on Nov. 14.
