Energy Intelligence Group Alleges UBS Plagiarized Content

Updated

Energy Intelligence Group, a New York based publisher, is suing investment bank UBS (UBS) for allegedly plagiarizing its content.

The publisher claims that content from its various oil and gas publications was placed in the bank's daily oil news bulletin, The Independent reported. UBS sends the bulletin to clients in more than 15 countries.

Energy Intelligence Group filed a lawsuit alleging at least 10 separate incidents of copying from 2006 and 2007.

"The acts of the defendant were carried out flagrantly and in the belief that the benefit to be so gained far exceeded the damages at risk," the lawsuit says.

Jon Rigby, the UBS analyst responsible for putting together the bulletins, holds a subscription to Energy Intelligence Group publications, the lawsuit says. Still, the suit says that the publisher can't say for sure the extent of the alleged copying or how widely the material was distributed.

A UBS spokesman told The Independent that the bank "intends to defend the case vigorously."
