Feinberg Promises Real Estate Agents Compensation for Gulf Coast Losses

Updated

Kenneth Feinberg told an audience at the University of West Florida today that he plans to negotiate a financial package for real estate agents affected by the Gulf oil spill. Feinberg, administrator of the Gulf Coast Claims Facility as of Aug. 23, said he did not think agents had a "legal claim for their loss," but nonetheless felt "it's the right thing to do under the circumstances." He has a meeting planned in Washington tomorrow to discuss the matter. Real estate agents in the Gulf region say they have suffered financially as fewer home buyers are considering housing purchase in the region since the spill.
