Valley Meat, a meat processor based in Modesto, Calif., has recalled 1 million of ground beef that may be contaminated with E. coli.

The products, which include "Bigger Valley Burger" and "Ground Beef Chuck Patties," were sold in California, Texas, Oregon, Arizona and internationally, the company said in a statement. They were produced between Oct. 2, 2009 and Jan. 12, 2010. Most of the products were sold frozen.

Customers who return the affected products will be able to claim a full refund.

"This is the first recall in our history and we will investigate the matter thoroughly and take any measures deemed necessary to further elevate our safety standards, protect consumers, and ensure confidence in our products," the statement said.
