Probably no such thing as a FreeUSLaptop.com, BBB warns

Offers from a Canada-based company called FreeUSLaptop.com are probably too good to be true, says the Better Business Bureau in Denver/Boulder, where the company frequently advertises on the radio.

Four complaints have been filed through through two separate Canadian BBB chapters against FreeUSLaptop.com, based in Woodbridge, Ontario. Consumers reported that its website prompted them to take surveys and sign up to test products through trial offers from sponsors such as Netflix, Blockbuster and the New York Times.

However, the consumers usually wound up paying for those products, the BBB says. The company's actual affiliation with these sponsors is unknown, they say. However, the company's privacy policy says it's an "independent rewards program for consumers," not affiliated with any of the listed retailers.

In all four cases, consumers who completed the necessary steps did not get a free laptop. The company's failure to respond to these complaints has earned it an F-rating, the BBB's lowest.

FreeUSLaptop.com, which also does business as www.mycrazyfreepc.com, could not be reached for comment.
