The real markup on minibar snacks and drinks

Updated

We've all been there; at the end of a grueling road trip, after endless meetings and glad-handing, we finally arrive back at our hotel room without the energy to go back out when hunger or thirst strikes. So we resort to the mini-bar in our room.

What a mistake. As this infographic by our friends at Mint.com shows, the treats you grab from the mini-bar are among the most expensive, relative to their value, that you'll ever consume. If you know you're prone to jonesing for candy or a drink while on the road, throw some treats or a flask into your suitcase along with your socks. You could save a lot of money.
