Research In Motion Open to Blocking Porn Sites

Research In Motion (RIMM) is open to blocking adult websites and allowing governments to monitor messages so it can avoid official bans on the use BlackBerry devices. Unlike other phone makers, RIM controls its own networks, moving encrypted messages through centers in Canada and the U.K. Reuters reported, citing local publications.

Now, countries like India and the United Arab Emirates are worried that the BlackBerry data system could be a security threat. To allay these fears, RIM is willing to let Indian authorities monitor BlackBerry services.

The smartphone maker has also tentatively agreed to block 3,000 pornographic websites at the behest of Kuwait's communications ministry.
