Bed Bath & Beyond is recalling thousands of patio umbrellas because of a faulty plastic connector that has caused at least 21 to collapse, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada announced.

The Solar Lighted Cantilever Umbrellas were made in China and imported by Bed Bath & Beyond. About 7,600 are subject to the recall. Consumers are asked to stop using the umbrellas and return them to Bed Bath & Beyond for a refund.

The umbrellas were sold between February and June at Bed Bath & Beyond stores and the company web site for about $300. A plastic connector that attaches to the arm of the umbrella can break, causing the umbrella to collapse, posing injury risk to the user.

The 13-foot umbrella. is either tan- or chocolate-colored with lights on it and a black pole that supports it. The following UPC numbers are on the recalled products' packaging: 444444550439 (tan) and 444444583963 (chocolate). The model numbers are 8070C-S and 8070C-L .
