RadioShack Reports Earnings of 41 Cents Per Share

RadioShack (RSH) reported that second-quarter earnings rose 8.6% from a year earlier to $53 million or 41 cents per diluted share.

Total net sales and operating revenue was $1.01 billion, up 4.7% from the second quarter of 2009, the company said in a statement. Comparable stores sales for company-operated stores and kisoks advanced 6.7% in the second quarter from a year earlier.

"In the second quarter, we worked hard to continue to strengthen our brand with particular emphasis on the mobility sector," CEO Julian C Day said.

RadioShack completed a pilot of wireless kiosks inside Target stores. The company now plans to roll out kiosks in most Target stores by the middle of 2011.
