Friday Freebies: free backpack, free photo prints, free tote bag and more

child with backpackThere are some high quality offers in this week's Friday Freebies, including a free tote bag for cancer fighters, 25 free photo prints, backpacks at Staples, free laundry sheets, and free admission to our National Parks. Whoopee!

Buy any backpack from Staples and get 100% of the cost back in the form of a Staples gift card now until July 31, 2010. There are a lot of great back-to-school deals going on right now so you can maximize your dollars by looking for $0.01, $0.05, $0.25 and $0.99 items. This is technically free because you get your money back, but since you still have to shell out a few bucks for the backpack, it's actually a savings of 50%. In other words, if you pay $10 for the backpack and get a $10 gift card, you get $20 of merchandise for $10. Still a fab deal!

Get 25 4" x 6" photos prints for free at Shutterfly now until July 31, 2010. Use coupon code PRINTSNOW. Unclear if it is case sensitive. You pay for taxes, shipping and handling. If you order 50 or more prints, shipping is free with coupon code SHIPPRINTS. Perhaps you have some hard copies of summer vacation photos? Caveats: one time use per member per household. Offer valid for shipped orders only.

If you are a woman fighting any type of cancer, The Lydia Project will send you a free tote bag made by volunteers. Each tote includes a journal, lotion, and a prayer card, which you can mail back with your prayer concerns, if applicable. The name of the volunteer who made the tote will also appear on the card. You can request a tote for someone else fighting cancer, too. Share your name, address, email, phone number, name and address of the recipient, and pick one of three totes embroidered with the words Faith, Hope, or Love. You can write a note to the recipient as well. Caveats: unclear when this offer ends.

Get two samples of Purex's 3-in-1 Laundry Sheets when you share your name, address, e-mail, and birth year. The free sample form also asks your four questions about your laundry habits. You can opt in or out of their e-newsletter and decide whether you are open to giving them additional feedback once you receive and use your free sample. Unclear when this deal expires. These laundry sheets are all you need to do a wash at home or one the go. (They seem especially useful for travel.) Each sheet contains one laundry load's worth of detergent, softener and anti-static. Put the sheet in with your dirty clothes, then transfer it to the dryer and toss when finished. Caveats: the free sample will take six to eight weeks to arrive. Valid for U.S. households only. Limit one per household. While supplies last.

This post on Coupon Cravings is so cool I just had to share it. Erin Gifford blogged about one money-saving iPhone app each day for the past 30 days. The link above takes you to her summary of all 30 iPhone apps that save money. Each app is free, of course! The apps help you save money on groceries, compare retail prices while you shop, find the best gas price, and track down local coupons. Now if only we had a WalletPop app to add to the list. Which apps help you save money? Tell us!

This just in from fellow WalletPop blogger Jason Cochran: "In a midsummer treat, the National Park Service announced it will not charge entrance fees on August 14 and 15, a Saturday and a Sunday, in an effort to introduce more Americans to their country's natural and historic treasures. The free entry applies to 392 national parks, which are found in 49 states. Of those, 146 usually charge fees ranging from $3 to $25. Camping fees, tours, food, souvenirs, and other expenses will still be charged. A list of parks and their amenities can be found at the official site of the National Park Service."

There are a ton of free samples available right now through FreeFly's, a site devoted to collecting free sample and coupon offers. You have to register on FreeFly's for access to these freebies, which means means sharing your name, address, email, phone number, gender, birthday, and status (single, married, etc.). That's an awful lot for free samples, so make sure you feel comfortable signing up. You also have to turn down (or accept) about 30 other offers to join various email lists to get to the free sample form, which may be more of a pain than it's worth. You decide. Signing up supports WalletPop. Without further ado, here are the current free offers.
Make sure to check my on-going list of back to school freebies and deals, which has items for as little as $.05!
