Get the World's Tastiest Internship
Traveling around the world to exotic locations and doing nothing more strenuous than sipping fabulous, fragrant teas may sound too good to be true, but for one lucky recent college grad that dream will become a reality. In an effort to help those who have just graduated and are struggling to navigate the brutal job market, the Tea Council of the USA, Inc. is sponsoring a Sip of Success contest, offering the winner an opportunity to prepare for a great job and experience a unique adventure on tea plantations in India, Sri Lanka, Kenya and the United States.
All you have to do to enter is submit a two-minute video showing your passion for tea and knowledge of its many health benefits, specifically black, green, white or oolong. Find an outline of some of those benefits here. The contest is only open to legal residents of the United States and Puerto Rico, who are recent college graduates at least 18 years old. You'll need to post your entry at www.teausa.org/sipofsuccess no later than midnight on Friday, Nov. 19, 2010.
And oh, the places you'll go if you win! Your international internship will begin in the Spring of 2011, with a tour of Darjeeling and Assam, India -- the second-largest global tea producer following China. The winner will remain in Assam to begin a six-week intensive training program, after which you'll travel to Sri Lanka, then on to Kenya for the final week, and return to the United States in late December 2010.
During the internship, you'll learn about all aspects of tea cultivation, processing and appreciation (cupping). You'll live in the exotic Tea Estate Bungalows in India, which are beautiful homes built for the original British managers.
During the U.S. portion of the internship, you'll be at Salon Tea under the tutelage of nationally known tea entrepreneur Tracy Stern, and learn all about branding and manufacturing. See the video of her detailing the contest below (http://yourupdate.tv/moneyandfinance/tea_council)
