Christie Brinkley Selling $15.75M Hamptons Mansion

Christie Brinkley is a fair-weather collector of men and real estate. She has as many multimillion-dollar properties in the Hamptons as she does ex-husbands. (OK, way more properties.) The four times married, four times divorced supermodel-turned-tabloid-friendly socialite and real estate investor often lists one or two of her residential gems dotting the Hamptons waterfront. But at the moment Brinkley, 56, is adding a third listing to her now-crowded market of must-sells. This one is a five-bedroom, 19th century waterfront home in North Haven, N.Y., for $15.75 million. Jay Flagg of Prudential Douglas Elliman is managing the sale.

Clearly something of a real estate mogul, Brinkley is said to be worth an estimated $80 million. That doesn't mean she can just hang onto all this sprawling square footage though.
For those interested (and there haven't been too many shoppers, she has previously indicated), the mansion du jour dates back to 1843 and costs more than seven times the $2.1 million she ultimately paid out to her ex-husband number four Peter Cook in their divorce settlement.

The property is 5,500 square feet and just a short walk from Sag Harbor. The home is flanked with colossal white columns and sits on 4.5 acres with 327 feet of beachfront. Besides the lawn and sandy beach, there's a pool, and most important, views both of the harbor and the surrounding bay. The new owner will score four fireplaces and enjoy wide-plank pine floors which most likely design-wise can be credited to her architect ex husband, Cook, who restored the property.

The reason for the end of this housing relationship? The megawatt mom says she's too busy to maintain the place.

"I love fixing up old houses," she told the Wall Street Journal. "But my life is so busy between with my children, launching several new businesses, and my philanthropy, I just don't have time."

And not one to be greedy with her residences, Brinkley is reportedly more then content with all those other residences she owns along the Sag Harbor waterfront. She kindly "decided to let someone else have this beautiful charming home."

Brinkley first bought the house in 2004 and property records indicate she paid $7.15 million through a trust. She also owns the home right across the street which she bought in 2007 via a trust for $9.99 million. She also owns Tower Hill, a century-old 12-bedroom Bridgehampton compound. Tower Hill is named for the 50-foot observation tower on the lot. Her love is fleeting for this property as well as she has listed the property on and off the market since 2002. Purchased in 2005, it still hasn't sold.

Meanwhile, her most famous of ex-husbands, Billy Joel has kept things competitive between the two. Also in the Hamptons, he's listed his own properties at the same time. Almost six months ago, Joel sold his home on Gibson Lane in Sagaponack for $10 million. (He originally paid $11.625 million for it and initially had asked for $12.5 million.) He has another property on the market that sits adjacent to Gibson Lane for which he is asking $22.5 million.

If Brinkley and Joel's daughter, Alexa Ray, plays her cards right and the housing market improves, she'll inherit some nice real estate, or, real estate money!
