Cruise for Country Music Fans

Classic country music will be featured on an upcoming Eastern Caribbean cruise hosted by the Grand Ole Opry on Royal Caribbean's Freedom of the Seas.

Onboard the weeklong "Opry Country Classics Cruise," embarking Jan. 30, will be country stars including Charley Pride, Jim Ed Brown and Jeannie Seely.

Newcomer Chris Young, nominated for the Top New Solo Vocalist award by the American Academy of Country Music, will be crooning too. Special guest will be Helen Cornelius.

This is the Opry's 14th annual cruise and its first with Royal Caribbean.

Country music legend Pride, who has 36 No. 1 hits, has headlined some of the other cruises as well and says the experience is just as much fun for performers as fans.

"We always have the time of our lives meeting the fans and enjoying our fellow artists' music," he says.

Passengers booking the sailing as part of the Grand Ole Opry group will have the opportunity to attend private shows by the artists, who will perform their own hits as well as all-time country favorites throughout the week, organizers said.

Musical fun onboard will also include classic country karaoke and a private cocktail party for country music fans.

The cruise is round-trip from Port Canaveral, near Orlando. Port calls include St. Thomas, St. Maarten and CocoCay, the cruise line's private Bahamas island.

Fares are from $1,158 per person.
