Duo Kicked Off Air Canada Flight for Watching 9/11 Video

A father and son were kicked off an Air Canada flight bound for Orlando because the boy was watching a video of the 9/11 terror attacks.

The Toronto Sun reports the incident occurred during a delay at Toronto's Pearson Airport last week. One of the newspaper's columnists happened to be on the same plane.

A passenger alerted the flight crew after spotting the young boy watching the video on his iPod, the Sun reports.

The video showed two planes smashing into the World Trade Center in New York. The father may have tried to hide the video when questioned by crew, according to a newspaper source.

The carrier confirmed the father and son were deplaned.

"Other passengers and our crew became concerned," Air Canada spokesman Peter Fitzpatrick, tells the Sun. He adds the carrier takes "whatever steps we deem necessary to provide a safe, secure and comfortable environment."

Following an investigation by police at the airport, it was determined no criminal offense had taken place. The father and son took a flight to Orlando the next day.

Passengers on the original flight, meanwhile, did not have an easy time getting to Orlando. After the initial delay due to missing baggage and the security scare, the takeoff had to be aborted due to mechanical problems. They were eventually switched to another flight, the newspaper reports.
