White iPhone 4 Won't Be Ready Until Later This Year

Apple (AAPL) says the iPhone 4 won't be available in white until later this year.

The product is proving "more challenging to manufacture than we originally expected," Apple said today in a statement.

The statement did not specify a month for the white iPhone 4's release, or give details on the nature of the challenges that Apple is encountering.

Late last month, Apple said that white model would be available in the second half of July, according to TechCrunch. Last week, the company said at a press conference that the white iPhone 4 would ship at the end of July.
