Bad luck bandit arrested when getaway car runs out of gas

A Tacoma, Wash., man has been named the "bad luck bandit" by police in nearby Wenatchee after he stole Native American collectibles from a local store, but was arrested after his getaway car ran out of gas less than 50 feet from the scene of the crime.

After calling police, the store owner watched last week as the getaway car sputtered to a stop and the 47-year-old suspect then decided to fee on foot. He was quickly apprehended, according to Sgt. John Kruce, a police department spokesman. The otherwise unnamed suspect is accused of stealing several Native American collectibles in separate incidents. After last his arrest last week, he was charged with first degree theft.
