Pop Star Launches Hotel Promo

InterContinental's boutique hotel brand, Hotel Indigo, has enlisted British pop star Natasha Bedingfield for a contest and promotion aimed at uncovering the best of America's neighborhoods.

Four Grand Prize contest winners will receive a trip for two to New York to meet Bedingfield and appear in a Hotel Indigo advertisement in People magazine.

The Grammy nominated singer/songwriter, who is putting finishing touches on her third album, "Strip Me," is hitting the road for the hotel chain as one of the contest's judges.

She said exploring is part of her routine on the road. "I love finding out what's unique and special about each city I travel to," the songstress said.

To enter the "Locals Know Best" Contest, applicants are asked to upload a photo online and answer in 75 words or less, "What makes your neighborhood great?" There will also be live "auditions" at the hotels, with participants asked the same question and required to produce a photo.

Entries will be judged on creativity and an expression of local knowledge, officials said.

The singer kicked off the promotion in Atlanta, and will making appearances across the country at Hotel Indigo properties including Downtown Nashville on July 22 and San Diego on July 27.
