Consumer Prices Fell 0.1% in June, Led by Energy Price Decline

Consumer prices fell 0.1 % in June, led by a decline in energy prices, the Bureau of Labor Statistics said in a statement. The energy index fell 2.9% in June.

Core inflation, which strips out volatile food and energy prices, was 0.2%.

The decline was in line with expectations. Economists had forecast that a drop in CPI of 0.1%, with the core figure unchanged at 0.1%, according to CNN.
