Latest BP bill is $99.7 million

The Obama Administration has sent a bill for $99.7 million to BP and other responsible parties to pay for response and recovery operations connected to the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

BP is on the financial hook for all costs associated with the Gulf oil spill including efforts to stop the leak, reduce the spread of oil, protect the shoreline and long-term recovery efforts for communities and individuals impacted by the oil spill, the government said in a news release. BP and the other responsible parties have already paid the first three bills -- totaling $122.3 million.

The fourth bill is an invoice listing expenses incurred by the federal on-scene coordinator to support the more than two dozen federal and state agencies that responded to the oil spill. It also helps replenish the $1.5 billion Oil Spill Liability Trust Fund.

BP installed a new cap Monday night in its latest attempt to stop the flow of oil since the Deepwater Horizon drilling rig blew up April 20 and killed 11. Government estimates put the size of the spill at 180 million gallons, AOL News is reporting.
