47% of Hotel Guests Don't Unpack

Do you bother putting your stuff into drawers and on hangers in your hotel room? Some 47 percent of guests don't, according to a new poll.

USA Today's Hotel Check-In blog asked readers whether they live out of their suitcase or take time to unpack.

Of the 4,200 people who have voted in the poll -- the survey is ongoing -- 47 percent ticked off "Suitcase, I'm too busy to unpack."

Only 19 percent say "Unpack, I want to feel at home in my hotel room." And the remaining 37 percent voted "Both, It depends on why I'm traveling."

Some suggest in the comments section of the blog a fourth poll answer be added – that it depends on how long they are going to stay at the hotel.

One reader says he unpacks some things, such as toiletries, and hangs his clothes to prevent wrinkling, but that he keeps other items including his underwear in his suitcase.

Others tell Hotel Check-In they believe their suitcase is a cleaner place to keep things than in most hotel rooms. One reader says "Suitcase only – I don't trust whatever's been inside these drawers."

Some mention concern about bed bugs. One reader writes about keeping luggage on folding luggage racks to avoid bringing home pests.

Another notes when you put stuff in drawers, you have more chance of forgetting it.
