The Dallas-Ft Worth metropolitan area, referred to as the Metroplex, is the 4th largest metropolitan population in the country, and the largest in Texas. Dallas is unusual as a major city, as it has no port, and no water connection to ocean freight. Dallas makes up for this with its central geographic location, and by serving as a hub to rail, trucking, and air transportation. Combined with a diversified employment base, the Dallas area expects stronger employment than the national average.
