McDonald's fights back against attack on Happy Meal toys

McDonald's is blasting the Center for Science in the Public interest for saying it might sue the fast-food giant over the practice of using toys to enhance the appeal of Happy Meals. Last month, the CSPI claimed that the practice violates consumer protection laws in Massachusetts, California, New Jersey, Texas and the District of Columbia.

But in a July 6 letter to CSPI, Mc Donald's Corp. Chief Executive Jim Skinner accused the that the consumer protection group of using "inflammatory rhetoric." CSPI hopes to negotiate with McDonald's, but its Litigation Director, Stephen Gardner, says the group is still considering a law suit.
