States Most Likely to Ticket Speeding Tourists
Just in time for the holiday weekend, the National Motorists Association took a look and says Florida tops the list, followed closely by a tie between Georgia and Nevada.
Rounding out the list of the top 10 places likely to hand out a traffic ticket are Texas, Alabama, Missouri, New York, North Carolina, Washington D.C. and New Jersey.
The motorist's rights association says the state where you are least likely to get a traffic ticket is Montana, followed by Wyoming and North Dakota.
The group points out that information on how many traffic tickets are issued in each state is hard to come by, with municipalities reluctant to publicize the numbers and states not necessarily gathering the information.
In compiling its rankings, the association said it used Google searches of "speeding ticket" and "traffic ticket," looking at state-by-state trends.
Given those factors, the association admits its rankings are "not perfect."
