Vehicle sales at General Motors rose an overall 10.7% in June with those at its remaining four core brands -- Buick, Cadillac, GMC and Chevrolet -- rising nearly 36% compared to year-ago levels, the company reported Thursday.

For the month, the Detroit-based automaker sold 195,380 vehicles, up from 176,571 a year ago. Sales at the company's Buick division recorded the largest jump with an increase of 52.7%, driven by sales of the redesigned LaCrosse midsized sedan and Enclave crossover vehicle.

Sales at Chevrolet, GM's sales-volume leader, rose 32% above last year's level. The division delivered 141,381 vehicles for the month, helped by strong demand for the Silverado line of full-size pickup trucks, which recorded a 25% year-over-year increase in sales.

Dealer inventories of GM vehicles at month end were higher than in May but much lower than last year, GM said.

All automakers are reporting U.S. sales Thursday. Combined sales are expected to be about 10% lower than May. GM sales fell 13% in June when compared to May.
