'Toy Story' and Sandler Beat Cruise in Box Office

Toy Story 3, a production of Disney's (DIS) Pixar Studios, remained the No. 1 film with $59 million in its second weekend, raising its domestic total to $226.6 million, according to estimates Sunday.

Sony's (SNE) Grown Ups debuted at No. 2 with a respectable $41 million. The Adam Sandler movie features many of the Saturday Night Live gang, including Chris Rock, David Spade and Rob Schneider.

Tom Cruise seems to have remained out of favor with audiences following his erratic behavior a few years back (including his memorable appearance on the Oprah Winfrey show), and his thriller Knight and Day came in at No. 3 with $20.5 million, despite Cruise's co-star Cameron Diaz. While the TV previews promise the Cruise that we saw in Jerry Maguire, this didn't appear to help Knight and Day in the box office, which brought in the worst result for a Cruise action flick in 20 years.

News Corp's (NWSA) 20th Century Fox bet on this one with a $107 million production budget. Since Wednesday, Knight and Day has taken in $27.8 million. It added $12.6 million in 12 overseas markets.
