Apple (AAPL) sold over 1.7 million of its iPhone 4 in its first three days on sale, the company announced today. The product was launched on June 24.

"This is the most successful product launch in Apple's history," Steve Jobs, Apple's CEO, said in a statement. "We apologize to those customers who were turned away because we did not have enough supply."

Consumers flocked to buy the new product, which has a suggested retail piece of $299 for the 32GB model, to take advantage of new features such as video calling and the high-resolution Retina display.
