Friday Freebies: Free Avril Lavigne perfume, printer ink, gift cards and more

This week's freebies are all over the place, from free perfume and sore muscle-reliving gel, to free toner refills and free gift cards. Pretty amazing stuff! Hope it helps you get your weekend off to a good start.

Sign up to receive a free sample of Avril Lavigne's new perfume, Forbidden Rose, which doesn't hit stores until August. Share your name, address, and email to get the freebie. You can share your date of birth and phone number too, but it's not required. Want to watch Avril's TV commercial about the new scent? Click the link above and scroll down to the bottom of the page. You must be 18 or older to receive the sample. Expect the free sample to arrive in six to eight weeks.

Select Ace Hardware stores across the country are refilling printer ink cartridges for free -- a savings of anywhere from $10 to $40, depending on your cartridge. It's amazing how quickly printer cartridges run dry. The free refill days vary significantly, with some ending in June and others not starting until July. Ace Hardware is using the Ink-O-Dem system, which can refill dozens of different cartridges from Dell, HP, Lexmark, Canon, Sharp, Xerox, Okidata and Primera. Free refill days are happening in AL, CO, FL, ID, IL, IN, MN, NV, OR, PA, WA, and WI. Click on the link above for participating locations and to see if your cartridge is on the list.

Kids eat free at Ikea today through Monday, July 5. Nice! Kids aged 11 or younger can pick out any three kid-sized menu items, like meatballs (5), mac and cheese, PB&J sandwich, kids yogurt, two cookies, and chocolate milk. The freebie meal is worth $2.49 and no adult purchase is necessary. It's not clear, however, just how many kids can eat free. One? Two? What if you brought in a mess of summer campers? Not all stores are participating so call ahead to confirm or ask before you order.

If there's one thing I love about the internet it is Swagbucks. About a year ago I signed up at, installed their toolbar, and continued using the Internet like I do everyday. The difference is that now I earn Swagbucks as I search the Internet and I can redeem them for gift cards at Starbucks and Amazon. There are about two dozen other gift cards you can get, for items such as t-shirts, books, magazines, movies, music, and trading cards. If this sounds like a gimmick, you've got a healthy amount of skepticism. The thing is, I've earned enough gift cards to sustain my Starbucks habit, order books from Amazon once or twice a month, and have Swagbucks leftover for iTunes and Target gift cards. If you sign up and don't like it, you can always un-install Swagbucks.

Get a free sample of Sore No More pain relieving gel when you share your name and address. No email needed, which is unusual. This all-natural gel is made of six plant extracts and other natural ingredients, according to the company's website. It apparently works instantly when you massage it into your skin. The gel is good for treating arthritis, body aches, headaches and migraines, some backaches, fibromyalgia, and sprains. And get this -- the company says you can use it on race horses and other animals!
