Free Jimmy Buffett concert tickets gone, eBay bans sale

Free tickets to Jimmy Buffett's concert to support the oil spill-ravaged Gulf Coast were gone in minutes and just as quickly began showing up for sale on eBay.

The online auction site banned sales of the tickets in response, the Associated Press reports. The July 1 concert in Gulf Shores, Ala. will also have Kenny Chesney, Zac Brown and others performing along Buffett and his Coral Reefer Band.

Part of the event will be carried live on CMT cable network from 8 to 9:30 p.m. EST. The concert will be simulcast on CMT's website, Sirius Satellite Radio and XM Satellite Radio.

Hundreds of Buffett fans -- nicknamed Parrotheads -- blasted scalpers on Facebook pages dedicated to the musician and the band, with some even calling for a cancellation of the concert because of the opportunistic scalpers. "I think all tickets should be revoked from today and just let the public attend the show," writes Shannon Rutledge on one of Buffett's Facebook pages. Buffett is a son of the Gulf Coast; he calls Fairhope, Ala., on Mobile Bay, his home town, and he was born in Pascagoula, Miss.
