Creative Shoe Storage For Small Spaces
You'll be amazed by some of the awesome solutions I've discovered on the internet (not to mention the use of an oven-turned-shoebox as previosly discussed on Rented Spaces).
Here are a few of my favorites:
Shoes Racks Made from Painted Molding
Living Etc. posted an out of the box shoe storage idea a few days ago. Architectural plaster mouldings "make brilliant rails for your high heels. You can paint the mouldings and fix to the wall in rows so you can hook over the heels of your most treasured pairs."
If you don't want to buy plaster mouldings, look around your current apartment and use what's already in place.
DIY Floating Shoe Racks
Megan and Scott at Not Martha created an amazing shoe rack for their teeny, tiny entryway. They were inspired by the J-Me Shoe Rack from DWR. Rather than buying a new rack Megan and Scott decided to design something that fit their small space needs. All you need to get started are boards from your local Home Depot and a few L-brackets to attach the wood to the wall.
You can read detailed instructions on Not Martha. And be sure to check out the great section "What I Would Have Done Differently."
Ikea Hack: Shoe storage for the hallway
Apartment Therapy featured a couple who used vertical space in their tiny apartment by repurposing the LOGGA coat rack for shoe storage. All you need is the LOGGA rack and a few screws. This is an inexpensive and inventive shoe storage solution.
A Revolving Shoe Tree
The revolving shoe tree is a fun shoe storage solution. It's functional, under $50, and would fit perfectly in your closet or entryway.
