Door Snaps Off American Jet at DFW

An American Airlines plane lost a door when it rolled away from a gate at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.

The accident happened after the Boeing 777 arrived from Sao Paulo, Brazil. Some passengers were still onboard when the plane moved and the main exit door snapped off.

American officials are looking into whether the jet rolled because the crew failed to set the brakes or because the brakes failed. The plane's wheels had not been "chocked," which means set in blocks that would have prevented the movement, an American spokesman told The Associated Press.

There were 200 passengers on the flight. No one was injured.

The plane was sent to the shop to have the door replaced. American declined to say how much the repairs would cost.
