Cruising with Astronauts

Cruisers can hear techno talk from astronauts on an upcoming Crystal Cruises sailing.

Captain Robert "Hoot" Gibson, an 18-year NASA astronaut who has commanded four of his five space missions, will be onboard. He'll be joined by Rhea Seddon, one of the first six women to enter NASA's astronaut program and Mission Specialist on the first Shuttle flight dedicated entirely to life sciences.

They'll both be sharing their out-of-this-world experiences.

In addition to space travel, the Experience of Discovery cruise program will look at the latest in medical technology. Also onboard will be Christopher Coburn, executive director of the Cleveland Clinic Innovations program, adding his technology know-how.

"The Science & Technology theme provides a fun and fascinating forum to discover new, up-and-coming things as well as things one may have always been curious about," said Chris Corrigall, Crystal's manager of entertainment. Guests of the luxury cruise line, he said, have always been "inquisitive."

The cruise is Nov. 28 on the 960-passenger Crystal Symphony. The weeklong sailing is roundtrip from Los Angeles, visiting the Mexican Riviera, with port calls in Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta.
