T-Mobile giving away every phone free on June 19th

Unless you are picking your Father's Day gift off our Ultimate Father's Day Tech Gift list, chances are you settled on a tried and true tie. Well I hope you saved the receipt because in honor of Father's Day, T-Mobile is giving away every phone they sell for free with a 2-year contract. The special one day event starts at 8 a.m. on Saturday June 19th and lasts until stores close or the phones are all gone.

T-Mobile's "No More Ties" deal for dads, and the whole family, is one of the first times we have seen cell phone companies give away even their newest smartphones, which typically retail for $200-$300. According to a survey by T-Mobile, most dads can't remember the gift they received two years ago and 56% of dads would trade in their entire tie rack for a new smartphone.

The free phone deal is only good until supplies run out so it may be worth showing up early if you are looking for one of the hot new phones like the myTouch 3G Slide, HTC HD2 or the Garminfone which represent some of the best smartphone choices that T-Mobile has to offer. The deal isn't limited to smartphones though; it is good on 30 devices from popular brands like Sony, Nokia, Motorola and more.

Keep in mind that adding a smartphone to your contract will likely increase your monthly bill due to the data plan that is an integral part of these connected devices. The increase will vary depending on the plan you select so it is worth your time to go through the steps at T-Mobile.com and see what your new plan would look like before waiting in line on Saturday morning and signing a new 2-year contract.

If you're still on the edge about getting dad a smartphone for Father's Day, ask him you may be surprised to find that many dads who aren't into tech would love a new device. My dad just received a new rugged Casio GZone Shock and I know quite a few Father's asking for an iPhone 4 this year. My advice, ask dad what he wants this year and leave those ties, desk-sets and coffee mugs on the sales rack.
