IKEA has expanded a recall of window blinds to nearly 5 million after a report of another child getting strangled by a cord, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said.

This recall adds about 3.4 million Roman, roller and roll-up blinds to previous IKEA recalls of Roman blinds and roller blinds involving a total of more than 1.3 million blinds in the U.S. The Roman blind recall in 2008 followed the death of a 1 year old in Connecticut. The most recent incident was the near-strangulation of a toddler from Lowell, Mass.

Most of the window blind industry united late last year to recall nearly every blind on the market following a spate of strangulation deaths. The unprecedented recall was intended to draw attention to the problem and provide solutions for people who have children in or visiting their homes.
