Biz Brief: General Motors Recalls 1.37 Million Vehicles in the U.S.
Another day, another recall. And it's a biggie! U.S. automaker General Motors is recalling 1.37 million vehicles in the U.S. due to a potential fire hazard.
The problem? A defect in the heated windshield wiper fluid system that could lead to vehicle fires. Another 100,000 vehicles are also affected in other parts of North America and overseas for the same issue.
The Detroit Free Press reports that the recall affects the 2006-2009 model year Buick Lucerne, Cadillac DTS, Hummer H2; the 2008-2009 model year Buick Enclave and Cadillac CTS; the 2007-2009 model year Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT, Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Acadia, Sierra, Yukon, Yukon XL, Saturn Outlook and the 2009 model year Chevrolet Traverse.
If the recall seems like deja vu - a similar problem was announced by General Motors just two years ago.
GM's announcement marks the latest big recall in recent days by a U.S. automaker.
On Monday, Chrysler recalled 600,000 minivans and Jeep Wranglers in the U.S. for problems ranging from failing brakes to sticky accelerators to electrical fires.
