Sneak Video Peek at Norwegian Epic
Norwegian Cruise Line
The interior look of the ship has been kept a bit under wraps, but Norwegian Cruise Line has released a video sneak peek from the French shipyard where the Epic is under construction.
At 153,000 tons, and carrying 4,200 passengers, the ship will enter the ranks of the world's largest cruise ships (though not the largest), when it debuts next month. Epic will be christened by Reba McEntire in a ceremony in New York on July 2. On July 4, the ship will serve as host venue for the 34th Annual Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Event, broadcast on NBC.
The ship's whopping 20 dining venues and 20 lounges include an Irish pub with bowling lanes (catch glimpses of some of these and entertainment venues too in the video).
The ship has sold out its first official cruise, a week-long June 24 transatlantic sailing from Southampton, England, to New York. Beginning July 10, Epic will sail alternating week-long eastern and western Caribbean cruises from Miami.
Other Epic features of note: Vegas entertainment acts including Legends in Concert, featuring celebrity impersonators; onboard comedy by The Second City; a whole fancy villa complex for top-tier guests; a complex of cabins for solo travelers, including a meeting-up spot; Nickelodeon-themed activities and entertainment for kids; and an Aqua Park with the only tube slide and largest bowl slide at sea.
Even the ship's basic cabins are different – they have curvy walls.
