The Ohio Attorney General's Office is taking legal action against eight home improvement companies it says defrauded consumers in the state, following an investigation of complaints against the industry it began in April.

Calls made to the Attorney General's complaint line started the investigation, said Ohio AG office spokeswoman Kim Kowalkski. "We followed up and found that in these cases, legal action was necessary," she said.

Cases of the eight companies the Ohio AG says violated the Consumer Sales Practices Act are either in pending lawsuits, or were assessed default judgment if the company did not respond to the alleged charge. According to Kowalski, the AG's office requested restitution from the companies.
